My name is VIACHASLAU KORAN. I’m the leader and producer of the rock-group from Minsk "ULIS". I’m 49 and I have been playing rock-music for 30 years already.
A little information about "ULIS". ULIS is one of the leading Belorusian rock groups. They sing their own compositions in Byeloryssian language. ULIS made first public performance in Minsk in March 1989. The band released nine albums. The song "Radio Freedom", composed by rock-group ULIS in 1990, is hymn of radiostation RADIO FREE EUROPE – RADIO LIBERTY.

Since 1989 ULIS participated in concerts & festivals in the next cities:

Minsk, Brest, Grodno, Novogrudok, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Chernovtsy, Sopot (Poland}, Belostok ( Poland), Augsburg (Germany), London (England)…

Among them the most significant are:

  • "Basovischcha" festival (Belastok, Poland 1990- 2005)
  • "Syrok" festival (Moscow 1990)
  • "Musicians of the world you children of Chernobyl" (Minsk 1990)
  • "Clean Water Rock" festival (Minsk 1990)
  • "Rock Summer" festival (Tallin 1991)
  • "Rock – Mafia" festival (Sopot, Poland 1991)
  • "29th Sopot Festival" (Poland 1992)
Through 1991 – 1993 ULIS played gigs in clubs & pubs in Augsburg (Germany).
In the autumn of 1993 ULIS appeared in London. Playing 6 gigs in local clubs.

ULIS played with such groups as:

JETRO TULL, THE STRANGLERS, KAOMA, HAVANA BLACK, LENUNGRAD COWBOYS, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, NITZER EBB, MARILLION, MECCA, HOLY JOY, etc…

The group consists of:

Viachaslau Koran – guitar, vocal, music, lyrics, the producer of the group
Pavel Yarmochanka – drums
Natallia Kunitskaya – keys
Andrei Mamayeu - Bass-guitar

We have always been developing our music, never stopped on the achieved results, and – that is the most important – we have never obeyed the stylistic limits imposed by the officials. We have never been afraid of experimenting with music that is why the music that we are playing now is totally different from what we played 16 years ago. I believe that now we play HARD INDEPENDENT ROCK.
